  1. Sia Said,

I’m such a fan of your podcast which I just found today. And I really have to give it to you ladies that your smart and funny and I LOVE your conversations about Twilight and everything in the fandom. I really enjoy your insightful ideas and thoughts.

But I have to disagree with you when it comes to the movie vs. the book. I didn’t like the movie yes I thought it was ok for a movie. But it was missing the feelings the book had with the witty banter and conversations Bella and Edward had and it was just too sad where’s the smiles and the soft touching ? I’m sorry the book was awesome and I don’t think the movie could of ever lived up to it. I just wish they would of incorporated those things to just make it a BETTER movie. but I WANTED TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW THAT I’M a new fan and look forward to many more of your awesome podcasts !

  2. Marina Said,

Hi Sia – thanks so much for listening to the show and for your comment!

I think you’re right on in your comment that the movie didn’t really capture all of the nuances of the book and that seems to always be a problem when adapting movies from books: you have to cut stuff out and hope that you still manage to convey the major emotions and I think the movie does that but I do miss the small interactions between Bella & Edward which help in further developing the relationship. It doesn’t feel as “creepy” in the book and those small moments may have something to do with it. Great point!

  3. Shannon the Movie Moxie Said,

Thanks so much for your comment Sia, thrilled to hear you enjoy the show!

The book really did have a lot more Bella & Edward time as they became closer together and i really think this worked for the book and conveyed the touching moments about them learning about each other. I have thought about this, and not only as Marina mentioned that you do have to edit in terms of volume from book to film, I think it may have been a concious decision.

The novel is in the first person which gives us an more intimate connection to the characters, but on film I’m not sure those moments in the beginnins of a relationship can be so special that there is a sacredness of what is between to people and maybe aren’t as special as a ‘viewer’ which we would be watching the film. In the film they show a fair amount them together but without the dialogue which is a choice worked for me.

  4. Summer Said,

I love the the move twilight!!!!!!!
