I generally don't pay attention to things like that, but there is at least one thing that makes me smile - Stephenie's fanbase is almost exclusively female. Go Stephenie! Also, the fact that "Twilight" was her first book just blows my mind. It irks me too that "Mormon housewife" is always invoked, but much the same was done with Jo Rowling. It was always the " unemployed single mother" angle, which turned out to be a stretch of the truth. The Lauren Bacall comments were not surprising, I might say the same thing myself (if I had any grandchildren). It's all about offering historical perspective, understanding where things come from. Wouldn't it be something to have the opportunity to listen to Ms. Bacall's stories about old Hollywood! Fascinating about the Vanity Fair “New Establishment” list.
