“Wuthering Heights” Book Covers Inspired by Twilight

Person dropping down behind “Charlie” is Victoria. Seems that they are just extending Victoria’s presence in Forks rather than just hearing rumors of her as in the books. Similarly, we will be seeing the fight scene between Laurent and the wolves instead of just hearing about it afterward – yea!
That makes complete sense – adds more of the action element that keeps coming up, into the story. Admittedly, I’m most excited about the Italian portion of the film. Can’t wait to see the Volturi!
I went to the New Moon set in Italy while they were filming there and the fandom was so big, literally my hotel was like 10 mins away and the fans where so crazy but great to be around
I live in the UK and the trailer was released late so i have just watched it and i have to say that i can’ wait for the film now but to be hones i think the last trailer released a bit too much of the film. Some of the Italy scenes seem a bit over powerful..not bashing new moon because i love it
I think Victoria is going to rock New Moon!!
Thanks so much for the Italy update Becca. That’s awesome! I’m in Vancouver and things get a little crazy here too but I can only imagine what it would have been like out there where the filming was so concentrated.
And worry not, we keep Twilight bashing to a minimum because we too love the movie!
Becca brought up a good point – I was a bit worried that they might have given too much away. Particularly the scene with Felix and Edward (which is awesome by the way). I hope that doesn’t spoil the movie too much for fans, but I am even more excited about seeing it!
I keep saying that I won’t watch another trailer, read another set report or look at another image but sometimes, I can’t help myself (especially with images and video which are so easy to watch/see). The trailer may give away some of the story to people who are familiar with it but I think it’s a good move for trying to sell this to a wider audience.
I think it’s fair to assume that we’re all excited!
That is Victoria that drops behind Charlie? Wow, WTG Wray I wouldn’t have guessed. Funny I said the actors name… oh how they blur sometimes.
Awesome you got to get on set in Italy Becca – sounds like it was an awesome time. I remember Chris Weisz saying that it’s not like they could hide where they were filming considering it’s described in the book.
I was so surprized (yet not) that you watched the new Trailer Marina! It’s so hard to resist eh?
I do think they showed to much in this trailer, but I thought that about Twilight as well and ended up enjoying it anyway!
I know, I know. I keep saying I won’t watch anything else and then they present something I can’t look away from. I promise, that was IT!
Oh darn, and I nearly forgot – saw the trailer for the first time on the big screen today. OMG. Seriously, I got excited as a schoolgirl. Never mind that I had to stop myself from repeating the lines but wow. Awesome on the big screen.
Guys, I have a question…
Do you think it’s a mistake to try to target a wider (male) audience? They risk disappointing that “new” audience when they see the movie and they risk alienating the core audience if it deviates too much from the book. What’s your take?
Personally, I like the action sequences so far, and there will be a lot more of that in Eclipse. But after reading the reactions to the trailer you posted, I felt a bit worried…
I think that the New Moon trailer #3 was brilliant, but i worry that they have literally shown us all the parts in the film that all the fans would be surpised at eg. Felix and Edward Scene and the St Marcus Day.. But i do think that the Edward hallucinations was brillant at first but as i have seen more of them i am becoming t find them really rather cheesy, i think it would have been more effective with a voice over and then at the end of the film all Team Edward Fans would be screaming for him instead of accepting he is in the film throughout, recently i have been telling myself that i shouldn’t watch anymore trailers because otherwise i will spoil it for myself
The new moon London premiere has been cancelled, i have tried calling E1 entertainments and Summit but there is no comment for now, all the fans feel like Summit has let them down even though they have said that there will be a fan even on November the 11th, with some cast members.. just a small update
cya..loving all the podcasts
I hear what you’re saying Becca, overexposure can be a problem. I still think the “hallucinations” are terrific, but I do think they should have saved them as a surprise. It would have been a sucker punch to the fans – at the same time I can see why they chose to show some of it. The Edward vision in the water is heartbreaking…and brilliant.
Why no London premiere? Any hypotheses?
I have been contacting E1 entertainment that deals with the fan events and premieres of the twilight saga, and so far they can only release there will not be a preimere instead there will be a fan event on the 11th with some cast members, rumours that are going rouund in London is that Rob Pattinson can’t attend the premiere because his schedule is fully booked but if they did a twilight premeire last year, dont you think they would do a new moon one since it is bigger over here. I think the scence in the water is beautiful, and i like the way Bella pulls Edward away with her..I am not huge fan of Kristen but i really think her acting has improved since Twilight, espically when Alice goes to Bella and says Edward going to kill himself, she’s like what and the face is real and i think it is nice to see her improve, in style and acting lol
What do you all think??
Not being a particular “fan” of any of the Twilight actors, I’m going to put most of the blame on direction and editing. I have seen Kristen in several roles (most recently Adventureland) and I think she is near perfect as Bella. Bella, as I imagined her in the books, is a quiet (not really shy), reserved, smart, witty, straightforward, nice, but not particularly friendly or easy to know. I think Kristen captured all those things, but I think the style of Twilight prevented the audience from feeling comfortable with either of the two leads. With all the intense close-ups, choppy editing, dizzying camera movements, and pseudo-documentary style the movie could be jarring. I assume this was to give the audience a taste of what the two main characters were feeling at least in intensity and heightened emotion. I thought it was an interesting choice, but I’m still not sure if it worked. Personally, I have a soft spot for Twilight and admire Catherine Hardwicke for taking chances.
New Moon looks like it is more conventional in style and I think most fans will like it better. It seems like everything will flow in a much more natural way and it has that beautiful color palette. I’m confident that all of the actors will improve as they go along and become more comfortable with their characters.
I totally agree with you on all the points about the cast, seeing Kristen in new roles e.g. Adeventureland has changed my opinion of her, i do think she suits the character Bella. The way the book describes here is like Kristen in a way. I think if they do decide to put Breaking Dawn in the works, i think that two directors should be chosen, a male for the action and Catherine Hardwicke for the intense scenes, the birth and Isle Esme. I think Catherine did capture the most raw bits from the book and create the most intense and beautiful scenes, e.g. edward and bella in the forest! I think New Moon has a steady pace, and will be easier to watch and easier for non-fans to understand the story. I like the way that Chris has, shown the action seens and left the intense scenes to be unrevealed in the film, I thing i though they should have saved for the movie was the Cliff Diving scene, i have been talking to quite a lot of twifans and they are dissapointed in the choice to show the cliff diving scene.
Do you think New Moon will be the height of the saga, will Eclipse let us down??
With the most intense scenes in the saga, and the most action do you think David Slade can handle this??
Share the love of all twilighters
Wow. Breaking Dawn. I have thought about this quite a bit and I just have no idea how they would film it. I’m a fan of the more gritty scenes in the book so I hope they would keep them. On the other hand they are pretty graphic so…yikes.
The confrontation scenes with the Volturi could be expounded upon for cool special effects, but much of the climax is essentially a courtroom scene. How in the world do you make that cinematic? I’m sure some clever director could, but I cannot see it in my mind.
I hope Eclipse won’t let me down, but I have little/no info about David Slade. I have seen 30 Days of Night and was not impressed, but I didn’t like The Golden Compass either so who knows? Marina seems to have faith in him so that makes me feel optimistic. I believe Slade can handle the action, I am more concerned about the relationship.
As for the cliff diving scene, I hope there is more to it…
Once again, I agree with you!
I hope David Slade is able to graspe the romantic scenes between Edward and Bella, otherwise it will not only let the book down but the millions of fans too. I think Slade will be able to capture the action in the film, but as i said before i am very worried as many thrid films let you down.
I think Breaking Dawn, will not be made into a movie but if they do then they need everyone on board and literally it would take so long to film to capture everything from the book into a film or epic movie.
What is your favourtie book?
I don’t think Eclipse will be a letdown but I think we should prepare ourselves for a film that looks a little differently than the previous. I agree that he’s the right guy for the type of action scenes in Eclipse but I’m not at all worried about the relationship. He handled a very difficult one in Hard Candy and did so brilliantly; he builds tension beautifully!
I agree that he tackled the scene in Hard Candy, i think he will deal with the actioon scenes very well but i am just hoping he gets the relationship bits right! I think Eclipse is a mega book and a great book to turn to film. I am looking foward to seeing a more True Blood fight scene in Eclipse or something like that? I have been seeing a lot of on set pictures and so far i can say it looks brilliant!
David Slade has a challenge filming this but i have faith in him that he will do a great job!
What director do you think would suit Breaking Dawn if it was made into a film?
Thanks, Marina for the good word towards David Slade. I’m glad that he can bring the edge. I haven’t seen Hard Candy, mostly due to the prickly subject matter. It’s one of those things you have to be in the right frame of mind for and (in my case) the house should be child-free! After reading Roger Ebert’s review, though, I think I will check it out.
Becca I agree that, although I never thought about it before, Eclipse may be the book best suited to adaptation. I have seen set pictures as well that look good – particularly the “newborns” in the water. They look awesomely creepy.
I always say my favorite book is New Moon because when I read it, I was devastated. And I loved getting to know Jacob Black and the Quileutes…plus Bella saves the day. However, I just recently re-read Eclipse and that book has some of my favorite mythology in it – all the legends told by the Quileute elders and the backstories of Jasper and Rosalie. I think the jury is still out.
As for the question of director for Breaking Dawn, I really couldn’t say except that my current favorite is Joe Wright. I know, that’ll never happen, but after Atonement I am a fan.
Most people i talk to about the twilight saga, say that Breaking Dawn is the best book out of the saga. I agree with Wray, when you say about re-reading eclipse, i did that recently and i have to agree it was a great book, with the detail of going into the Vampires and Werewolves history.
I think if Breaking Dawn got the go to film, then i think they should hire two directors, Catherine Hardwicke and maybe Chris back again, i think they have both captured what the book is about in the films, and i liked Catherine real feel of romance in Twilight and i think Chris’s touch of action suits the saga.
I wonder if they will make Breaking Dawn a film!
What do you all think?
I am just flabbergasted that your poll showed Breaking Dawn as the favorite! In a good way! Most people I know have the opposite opinion so I think it says something about the “Before the Dawn” listeners. This ought to be interesting because after the release of Breaking Dawn, there a quake in the Twilight fandom of the tectonic plate shifting variety. And right after that there was the Midnight Sun leak controversy – not to mention an explosion of Twilight-hate websites and general venom-spewing.
Hmmm. I think it’s time for me to re-read Breaking Dawn!
Re-read Breaking Dawn!
New Moon is my favourtie!
Getting back to way earlier in the thread, I’m not impressed they seem to be pitching New Moon to a more male crowd. I mean, really – why do they need to do this? I’ll all for more Twi-love but it’s got such a huge fanbase I’m not sure why they are expanding it.
The hallucinations in the 3rd trailer kinda make me giggle. I’m not a fan of the effect but I still like the look and feel Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass) has come up with, especially the werewolves. I didn’t dig the car scene with Alice though, it looks very greenscreen background. I was fine with the cliff though. I really wish someone from Summit snapped up the fan made posters of Bella on the edge – that would have been awesome, expect it doesn’t fit there current colour scheme.
I think David Slade with be great for Eclipse, Hard Candy and 30 Days of Night has great elements that hopefully we’ll get to see him put into place in the film. I don’t remember much romance in Eclipse but there is certainly a lot of tension, and that was the successful key that turned Hard Candy.
I’m so surprized Breaking Dawn is the highest on the poll at the moment. The majority of the women I know hate it.
Becca I’m surprized you mentioned having 2 directors for Breaking Dawn, Catherine Hardwicke + a guy for the action. Women can direct action too. Kathryn Bigelow does it very well.
Yeah, I do think if Breaking Dawn was made into a film i think Summit should consider hiring two directors, i really do think it would give a edge to the film, and i think espcially from Jacob’s point of view. Most probably, they will only hire one, but it was a good idea.
I agree with Shannon when you say the car scene with Bella and Alice looks a bit to green screen, i really do like the snap shots of edward when bella is on the motorbike but i think they should have saved them for the film.
Breaking Dawn is a brilliant book, but some aspects of it kinda feel a bit ridiculous but i absolutely love the way Stephenie manages to progress with the characters throughout the book, and i feel that this is the point when Bella truly grows as a person.
If Breaking Dawn, was made into a film, what director given the choice would you choose?
One exciting thing that I got out of the 3rd New Moon trailer is the opening shot of the Volturi. Clearly a flashback of some sort, ’cause their clothes look maybe 18th Century and I think I see Carlisle standing in the back. Yea!
Also, Bella screaming in her bed means we should see a nightmare. Hope it’s heartbreaking AND creepy. I like ghost Edward, but I agree with Becca – they should have saved it. I can’t comment on the green screen because I didn’t notice it at all due to the quick editing in the trailer. I know that the scene with the Porsche was shot in the streets with Ashley in the car, maybe there had to be some studio shots later… Hope it is not obvious seeing it in theaters.
Hey,
I think that the new scenes revealed are so good but i still think that they released too much of the film, i also believe that the scene with Alice is so good and Chris has deffo done a great job, in the new moon companion they reveal a lot about the film and its very good to read, a must read!!
