I bet there’s some garlic in the Hammer films of the ’50’s and ’60’s. Christopher Lee made a scary Count Dracula!
There’s definitely garlic in Bram Stoker’s Dracula (’92) and it’s mentioned in the book. It never prevents the vampire from getting his prey, but it’s an irritant.
Awesome Wray, I knew it had to be there somewhere but never remembered it. I have to check out the Hammer films, I’m not sure I’ve seen any of them but they are certainly on my list.
It’s just a guess, but there were so many of them – even up to the ’70’s – and they were all over late night television when I was a kid. I kinda miss those horror/sci fi shows hosted by someone like Elvira or Vampira (before my time).
There is an old film called Vampires that uses garlic as a killer !!
Do you mean the John Carpenter film? I never saw it, but I know it stars James Woods (awesome).
I think it is, i watched it about 3 years ago i think but i remember that they used garlic to help kill the vampires and it is mention in Vin Helsing too
It’s possible the John Carpenter version uses it, I remember crossbows for the most part which was the only cool thing about that awful film! Haven’t seen Van Hesling in ages… will catch up with it but not til next year. Freaking to have movie watching planned out that far in advance…
Van hesling uses it and a film called After Dark uses it in a small portion.
