Thanks for your thoughts Patrick, glad to hear you and your daughter enjoy the podcast and it's awesome to have Twilight be the common ground!

I totally can see that perspective on Breaking Dawn, it's very powerful that she finally comes into her own power, or her own vampire powers.

Hey guys,

I really enjoy your podcast, my daughter put me on to it. She's a big fan of the movies and the books, I to find the whole Twilight Saga entertaining. Its something we have in common so when the movies came out it was an opportunity for us to hang out. i really appreciate the breaking dawn news you guys report on, it's how I keep up to date with how the whole thing is coming together. I really liked Breaking Dawn because Bella finally becoming a vampire is something she really wanted since Twilight. so when she wakes up a vampire and is able to use her power to make the Cullens one of the strongest covens, there was a sense of satisfaction for those who wanted to see how Bella would fair as a vampire. So I just wanted to thank you for all you do putting the podcast together and please keep up the good work.

Haha, fair play Wray! I'm a big fan of editing. I don't think everything needs to be included as long as you keep the spirit of something but with this I can see why they want to do it - not only from a cash perspective (which is huge incentive) but a crap load of stuff happens in the Breaking Dawn. I'm just not a fan, so not looking forward to hanging out with that story for so long.

I also didn't mention my impression of the "Breaking Dawn" news. I don't dislike the story as much as you, Shannon, but if there was one movie that was screaming for a more creative adaptation it would be this one. We are not going to get it. The reason for two movies is to include all the details - and there are many. I have actually re-read this recently and I will save those comments for a later date, but let's just say that those who were worried about "New Moon" being depressing were concerned prematurely.

I'm with you Wray, I would so prefer just 2 DVDs - especially because that was what was originally said!

I hear what you are saying about the direction of New Moon, and the nicest thing I can say is that it's a true adaptation. I just don't think he 'got' the spirit of the book. But - to be fair not everyone feels and likes the same things about New Moon (the book), I loved it and I know lots of people don't so it makes sense that the film take was open to the possibility of having different takes whereas with Twilight people have closer and similar reactions to the book.

The one thing that gets me worried about Eclipse though, is this same issue. All people will ever say about it (so far) is that if you want to know what happens, read the book so we are probably up for another very straight adaptations. But, of course to comment further with any gusto in that light I gotta get off my butt and read it again!

And remember to check out Channing Tatum's site Post the Love. it's a beautiful idea and awesome to see everyone's love message. Very inspiring.

- The various editions of the "New Moon" DVDs continue to confound me. For Pete's sake, can we just have two??!!

- Four Razzies? Whatever. Let the backlash continue...

- "Stretch Armstrong"? wow.

- As we go forward, I guess we'll find out more about the director(s) for "Breaking Dawn". Right now, I think it's a mistake to hire anything other than an indie director. Of course, I've been wrong before...

- I hear what you're saying about Chris Weitz, but I still think you're wrong (to quote the guys on "Filmspotting"). I think he did understand the characters and the story and what we got was a reverential take on it. The problem with reverential, is that it can be uninspiring. There were many things that he added that I enjoyed, but perhaps he did not go far enough. All I can say is that if both Michael Phillips and A.O. Scott say that it made them feel like teenage girls, he has done his job! ;) Unfortunately, I think any director in this "franchise"(ugh) will be hamstrung by adhering too closely to the scripts - which have been extremely faithful adaptations. I am really looking forward to David Slade's take, but I wouldn't hold my breath for something truly edgy. He is lucky that Eclipse includes so much action and a bit more darkness in the story for him to work with.
